Disclaimer: I wrote this post yesterday but didn't have enough Internet to publish it!!! So I am posting it now, and then I will post again about today's adventures (which were flipping awesome). So, anything that says "today" or "yesterday" in this post is actually a day late. Whoops! #responsibilities
Let’s see…we left off at the cheese party!
Otherwise known as “cheesy talks,” the point is to get together, bring your own cheese, and ask each other questions to get to know each other better and just hang out. I had almost the entire program in my room for this – so they must have thought it was a good idea and enjoyed it! I was glad that they thought I was cool enough to stay in with me. Haha.
Also on this day I went back to the waterfront just to get a few things – one of which was NANDO’S! The best South African fast food ever. It's a chicken place. My life is forever changed. Seriously.

Yesterday was Zach’s birthday! I decorated our apartment with balloons, streamers, and a banner and slipped a card under his door so that he would have a happy morning. We made our way to Table Mountain where our crew hiked to the top, fog and all!
I, however, did not hike the mountain this time. Jake had knee surgery a few months ago, so he was unable to hike, and a staff member needed to take the cable car with him. We really enjoyed eating pizza and hanging out at the top of the mountain while we waited for the rest of the crew to complete their hike! It was very peaceful and made for a relaxing afternoon.

Last night we celebrated Zach’s birthday at one of our favorite restaurants, Belthazar. It has the largest wine list in the world and is rated the best steakhouse in South Africa! We went with a huge group and I got my order that I always get, so I was excited to be reunited with that. We went to Mitchell’s pub on the waterfront and then our favorite bar – The Dubliner on Long Street. It was a great night back at some of our favorite places! Happy Birthday, Zach! I think I enjoyed your birthday more than you did. Lol. So happy we could celebrate YOU in our favorite place in the world!
Today was the vineyard tour! We went to a beautiful little town called Franschhoek that I remembered perfectly from last year. So quaint, so picturesque, just simply stunning. I was one of the judges for the wine contest. Our students broke into their Community Groups and made their own wine. I also got some delicious chocolate covered strawberries at a Belgian chocolate shop that I remembered from last year. Incredible! A very nice day.
The weather has changed drastically here – it’s cold and gloomy right now! Hopefully the sun will come back out because I am freezing!!!!!!!!
Tomorrow is Saturday. You know what that means….OLD BISCUIT MILL! Zach and I are going surfing in Kalk Bay after breakfast so we are pumped about that!
Happy weekend everyone!
The Summer Intern,
Anna
